Supporting local businesses has always been one of my personal mandates, and I am always pleased when my favourite shops are owned by people who have strong business ethics, superior products and outstanding customer service. And Carpet Mill is no exception to this.
Owned for over 17 years in the same location by Katherine Kollias and Aris Anagnostou; they have taken their business from 1,000 square feet to over 10,000 square feet of fantastic product!
They have a very extensive selection of carpets, of course, from all the major carpet manufacturers, including the largest selection of remnant carpets in the city. Their quality ranges from low, mid priced to high-end wool carpets. I was going to give you my favourites here, but the fact is, there are many brands and styles that I love at Carpet Mill. From the very organic wool carpets from Unique Carpets to the more affordable shags and new to the store are these fantastic sculpted area carpets. And they have the best selection of runners anywhere. I’m always over there picking up runners for my home staging gigs.
If you are looking for hardwood floors, this is the place to find it. They have a huge selection of flooring from solid to engineered to laminate woods and vinyls. They carry all the major brands and focus on quality and value. And they carry Canadian products.
And service? They have highly qualified installers for all of their products. But they also offer custom binding on their rugs from machine, to banding to hand- binding (this is a beautiful finishing BTW). And they also do custom cutting to any shape or size! I have to say that this is a fantastic service for a designer.
Most stores these days don’t want to carry inventory, which means you’re waiting for weeks to get your special order. But not at Carpet Mill. They have huge stock and you’ll always find what you want so you can take it with you or have it delivered in no time.
How many businesses these days can say that 60% of their business has come from referrals? Carpet Mill can.
