I met Christine back in 2007, when she popped in for a visit to the Ad agency I was working for at the time. Christine was on maternity leave, and although I didn’t work with her directly, I saw her talent all over the office with her award winning logos and ad campaigns.

Two years prior, in 2005, Christine started to do her own design work at home and Love the Design was born.  Designing primarily couture stationery and invitations, Christine eventually wanted to get back to her passion – photography.  Studying design and photography in New York was the foundation for her next step: creating amazing artwork from her photography with hits of graphic elements.   See her art here.

Winning awards and recognition for her talent was just not enough for Christine, because the idea of having her own shop was always in the back of her mind.  And when the opportunity to rent a space in Leslieville on Queen St. E. came up, she jumped at it and hasn’t looked back. In typical Christine-style, with great focus and a keen design eye, she is now on the precipice of making her dream come true.

I promised not to show you too much and spoil the surprise, so here’s just a sneak peak of the shop one week before the opening.

Still a bit disheveled and awaiting more pieces, you can get a sense of the wonderful treasures she will have to offer – from art, furniture, lighting and home accessories.

I’ll reveal some of the clever elements Christine has put into the space in upcoming posts.

But for now, mark your calendars for the opening next Saturday March 5.  See below for details.

Hope to see you there!

Cheers!

Art – LOVE THE DESIGN

This is the first post in the series where I will be highlighting art and artist’s, to show you that art can be affordable, easily acquired and most importantly is a must for creating a well put together home or office.

Christine Flynn is the founder and creative mind behind Love The Design.  As an award-winning designer and business woman, she has been able to successfully combine her love of art, photography and business savvy and create the most wonderful pieces of visual delight!

Featured in newspapers and magazines, Christine’s work can be seen in venues such as “the Hours” swag lounge to fine shops and galleries across the city.

If an art piece doesn’t make me wander away to a far away land and invoke some sort of emotion, I won’t consider it for purchase.  Christine’s pieces are not only beautiful, but the resin technique she uses creates an ethereal look, like you are being pulled into a dreamland.  No wonder she called her company “Love the Design” because I certainly LOVE her work.

Here are some of my favs.

So dreamy!

Christine endeavors to make all of her pieces an original, so not only can you dictate what size you want but you can also have her recreate one of your own photos!  Now that’s accessible art!

Check out her site and blog for upcoming venues, and then buy yourself something very special.  You deserve it.

Love The Design!

Cheers!
