It’s a sure sign of spring when my mailbox fills up with invites to openings and shows!
And I’m really excited to share this upcoming show by one of my fave designers, Kathryn Walter. Kathryn has for years been working with felt to create the most amazing objects. See Room 416 at the Gladstone Hotel.
Her latest show Patchwork really touches upon my everlasting quest to see designers recycle. And with her studio remnants she has created a series of quilts. The quilts have no planned design but rather like painting, she arranges the pieces in relation to one another, making choices of form and colour over the course of building the whole.
Here’s Kathryn working on one of her quilts:
The opening reception will be next Thursday, March 3rd from 9:30pm – 11pm at the Gladstone Hotel Cafe .
Kathryn will give a talk about her work on Sunday March 6th at 2pm in the Art Bar.
See you there!
Cheers!
I love felt – these are gorgeous!
Martha Stewart is a big fan of felt but Kathryn has taken felt to a new level. It makes me want to start working with felt, like right now!!!!
