Happy Monday everyone!
What a busy weekend we had in Toronto, with TIFF ending, the Terry Fox Run, Black Creek Pioneer Festival, Roger Waters concert and tons of other stuff! Always on the search for inspiration, the only thing I was interested in was the Queen West Art Crawl.
It was such a good one this year because they’ve included guided walks, talks, demonstrations and performances. Although some artists were familiar, I’m pleased to let you know that there were so many new artists. And although I always try to see as much as I can, I’m only one person (why can’t I be cloned!!) and Clark Sculpture really stood out for me.
Mark Clark and friend
Hey speaking of sculpture, does anyone remember the proliferation of weird sculptures in the 80’s and 90’s? Does anyone know where they went? I’ll have to do an investigative post one day.
Anyway, oh yeh.. .Clark. Mark Clark has been making amazing kinetic garden sculptures for over 16 years. He has completed many residential commissions, but I think his work could go big, it’s so clever and interesting, not like the boring static sculptures I’ve seen.
See what I mean:
Powered by solar panels on top; in the evening you have a lovely pedestal light sculpture.
These figures gently sway to and fro.
This tree when you touch it moves gently.
This one reminded me of a ferris wheel.
My fave!
Each sculpture has moving parts that gently move by wind or hand.

Cheers!
Thank you for such wonderful coverage of the Queen West Art Crawl. We’re glad you enjoyed the event as much as we did. See you next year!
