The weather couldn’t have been any better for a day of antiquing at the Christie Antiques Show. As scheduled, Daina from Continuum Modern Vintage and I picked up Martha Scandrett ( A Day of Antiquing Contest Winner) at 7 am. A quick stop for gas and lattes and we were off. Traffic was a breeze and we were there in an hour, only to be met with a line-up getting into the park. “Oh.. This one’s going to be a good one”, I thought.
I noticed that there was already quite a crowd of people.
The first booth we visited, Daina bought a coat. This is good luck in antiquing folklore and meant that the rest of the day we were going have easy purchases!
Here are some of the things that caught my eye:
Retro Furniture. This is almost exactly the kitchen table I grew up with. The only difference is that our chairs were Faux Bois vinyl and they swivelled! I loved those chairs.
Love the vintage Judy’s and ornate frames.
I found a pair of mint-condition Boulet cowboy boots. Fit like a glove!
Great pieces for children’s rooms.
Beautiful glasses and crystals from the US and Europe.
Mint condition enamelled bread boxes and ladles and cannisters from Holland Park Antiques.
Daina finally caved and bought a beautiful vintage vase.
Great bar set and Deco coffee set
Antique fans and this fantastic bureau
Imagine how cool these would look as house numbers
The drink of my youth!
Even Martha found a great piece for her living room!
We found haggling became easier in the afternoon and we had some great conversations with dealers. This Fall was a great show and I believe the dealers felt the same way.
If you missed the chance to enter “A Day of Antiquing” contest, don’t worry because you’ll have another opportunity for the Spring 2012 Show.
Keep antiquing and always take lots of pictures of your great finds!
